Zelda Ocarina of Time: Fairy Locations
Great Fairy Fountains
The great fairies can be found throughout the lands of Hyrule. They reward you with a variety of distinct abilities and spells. Ultimately, they are essential for Link's success to completing all of his objectives.
Fairy #1: Located at peak of Death Mountain
Utilize a bomb to blow up the wall present at the peak of the mountain in order to reveal the entrance. Proceed in and play the "Zelda's Lullaby" on the triforce symbol which awakens the great fairy. In return, you are rewarded with a boost in magic powers, and a brand new charged spin attack. Please note regarding this new attack: when you hold down the B button, Link will begin charging up his sword. Once it's charged up, the sword will release a great and powerful attack. Unlike other attacks, this attack requires the usage of magic powers to charge up.
Fairy #2: Located on the road to Hyrule Castle
Once you pass the local market, climb upwards with the help of the vines. When you reach the top, walk forward until you see a gate ahead. This is when you jump across to the other side of the gate. Continue to proceed forward by following the path until you see a sign. By now, you should recognize a large boulder behind the sign. Blow it up with the help of your bombs and enter the revealed entrance. Play the "Zelda's Lullaby" song to awake the great fairy. In return, the fairy will reward you with the magic spell known as Din's Fire.
Fairy #3: Located in Zora's Fountain
In the fountain, you see a small patch of land to the right of the Jabu-Jabu. Dive into the water and reach for the surface. By the time you reach surface, you should see several boulders, which proceed to blow them up with bombs until the entrance is revealed. Like the other fairies, play the "Zelda's Lullaby" song to awake the great fairy. The fairy will reward you with a new spell called Farore's Wind, which gives you the ability to use warp points in dungeons.
Fairy #4: Located in Death Mountain Crater
The forth fairy fountain is unavailable until you defeat the Fire Temple. In any case, once the entrance is available, enter the crater from the secret entrance located in Goron City (proceed right). Now you will see similar boulders like the previous fairy quests, however, this time utilize your Megaton Hammer to smash away the boulders. Ultimately, you will reveal an entrance, enter and play "Zelda's Lullaby". In return, the great fairy will reward you by doubling your magic power.
Fairy #5: Located in the Desert Colossus
Once you reach the desert, proceed along the right side. Now you should see two palm trees. In between the two is a small crack. Utilize your bombs and blow up the crack. Hop in and play the Lullaby song on the great fairy. Finally, the fairy will reward you with a magic spell known as Nayru's Love. This spell creates a protective bubble around you to protect you from enemies.
Fairy #6: Located near the entrance to Ganons Tower (right side)
By utilizing the golden gautlets, you can move the large rock to reveal the entrance to the fairy fountain. Once the rock is moved, enter and play "Zelda's Lullaby" in order to awake the great fairy. In return, the fairy will double your defense increase.
Regular Fairy Fountains
The regular fairies live in different locations throughout the lands of Hyrule. Unlike the great fairies, they aren't as powerful, however, they do fill up your hearts.
Fairy #1: Located in the Sacred Forest Meadow
By the time you reach the end of the maze, you will be able to proceed onto the stairs, which will eventually get you to the Forest Temple. However, do not take that path yet, turn around and go up the ladder and continue walking until you see a square pit. Fall into the pit and there will be a small hole. Jump into the small hole and collect your reward from the fairies.
Fairy #2: Located in the Graveyard
Look for the tombstones marked with plants in the first row of tombstones. Pull the tombstone back and you will reveal an entrance. Hop into the squared entrance and you will find a strange looking wall. Blow up the wall with bombs and proceed to the fairy fountain.
Fairy #3: Located in Hyrule Field
The fairy fountain is located at the left side of the drawbridge that brings you to the Market. You should be able to find it near a Peahat. Near the peahat, you will see a boulder that seems different from any other boulder. Blow it up with bombs and reveal the entrance (hole). Hop in and collect your fairies.
Fairy #4: Located on Zora's River
This maybe the most difficult quest to find a fairy. Follow the flow of the river, once you are near the end of the river, fight against the current to flow back to the entrance of Zora's River. As you flow back to the entrance, you will discover that you can go straight or proceed rightward. In this case, choose to flow straight until you see a small patch of land on the right side of your screen. Further, a ladder should be sitting there. Climb on the ladder to get off the water surface and approach towards the small patch of land. Now, bring a chicken to the place where the river splits. Finally, jump with the chicken to the land and climb upwards on the ladder until you find the place with a circle of rocks. lastly, blow up the circle of rocks by placing a bomb in the center of the rock pile. Finally, hop in and collect your fairies.
Fairy #5: Located in Gerudo's Fortress
This quest should be easy to complete. Once you arrive at Gerudo's Fortress, the Gerudo Thieves will imprison you as an adult. With the help of the Stone of Agony, the hole where the fairies are hidden will now be available.
Fairy #6: Located in the Desert Colossus
The final fairy fountain is located in the dried up area of Desert Colossus. As a matter of fact, this dried up area was once where a pond was. Stand in the area and play the "Song of Storms". Magically, the area will be refilled with the water and return its original state. Lastly, the final fairies will appear and greet you with the rewards.
