Zelda - A Link to the Past Background



Zelda - A Link to the Past was the first Zelda game on Nintendo's new console, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was the first Zelda release in a full four years. The fans didn't mind the way, though: Zelda - A Link to the Past is widely considered to be one of the best, if not the finest, game in the entire series. Some have gone as far to say that A Link to the Past is one of the best games of all time, and the best game on the widely popular Super Nintendo. The sales statistics for A Link to the Past back this up: A Link to the Past remained the number one seller on Nintendo's Top games list for more than five years. While the Adventure of Link recieved decent sales, fans were torn over the new style of the game. A Link to the Past returns to the traditional style of the original Legend of Zelda, albiet with updated graphics and new gameplay mechanics.

Zelda - A Link to the Past Storyline Intro



A Link to the Past is widely considered to take place after the first two Zelda games, and perhaps be the last game chronologically in the series. A young boy named Link in the beginning of A Link to the Past wakes up in his bed and begins to hear a telepathic message from the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda. She informs him that she is locked in the dungeon of the castle, and Link takes off to save her. While he manages to succeed in saving Princess Zelda early in A Link to the Past, the story only starts there: Link soon learns that an evil wizard going by the name Agahnim is seeking to destroy a sacred seal that seperates the Dark World from the Light.
