Zelda - The Adventure of Link Background



The Adventure of Link was the second game in the Legend of Zelda series, and its initial announcement was quite a surprise for Zelda fans: originally, The Legend of Zelda was going to be a single game, not an on-going series. The Adventure of Link was not simply an expansion of an already widely popular game, the game engine for The Adventure of Link was completely different not only from the original Zelda, but from all Zelda games to come after it. Notable changes include the side-scrolling interface and the use of more traditional RPG game mechanics, such as statistics and hit points. While the reaction of the changes made to the Zelda series for the Adventure of Link have had notoriously mixed reactions, some elements of the game influenced all games in the Zelda franchise to come after it.

Zelda - The Adventure of Link Storyline Intro



The Adventure of Link takes place after the events of the Legend of Zelda. Link seeks out Impa with questions, and she tells him more of the nature of the Triforce. The Prince of the Kingdom of Hyrule learns that Princess Zelda knows of the location of the Triforce, and attempts to force her to reveal its location. She refuses, and he sends an evil wizard to her. The wizard failed but managed to put a sleeping spell on Princess Zelda. Thus begins the Adventure of Link, as Link sets out not only to find a way to rescue the Princess, but also to once again find the Triforce of Courage...
